    Our Verdict

Trezor is the original hardware wallet — fully open-source firmware, a long unbroken security record, and self-custody by design. The Safe 5 with its color touchscreen and Secure Element is the modern flagship; the Model One remains the cheapest serious cold-storage option on the market. The trade-off is a slightly less polished mobile experience than Ledger, and you have to handle your seed phrase yourself. For long-term holders who want true ownership, Trezor is one of the safest places to keep crypto.

    💸 Fees

Trezor Model One: ~$69. Trezor Model T: ~$219. Trezor Safe 3: ~$79. No ongoing fees.

Legit. Trezor shows the markers we look for in a credible operator: identifiable team, working product, transparent terms and consistent withdrawal performance. No platform is risk-free, but on the evidence available there is no reason to consider Trezor a scam.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Trezor safer than keeping crypto on Kraken or Coinbase?+

Yes, for long-term holdings. On an exchange the platform controls your private keys; if it is hacked, frozen or goes bankrupt, your coins are at risk. With Trezor the keys live on the device and never touch the internet — but you take on full responsibility for backing up the seed phrase.

What happens if I lose my Trezor?+

Nothing, as long as you still have your 12 / 24-word seed phrase (or Shamir shares). Buy any Trezor — or any BIP-39-compatible wallet — restore the seed, and your funds reappear. Lose the seed and there is no recovery, ever.

Trezor vs Ledger — which should I buy?+

Trezor is fully open-source, Ledger is not. Ledger has a slightly better mobile / Bluetooth experience and broader native app support; Trezor has the longer security track record and more transparent firmware. Both are dramatically safer than leaving coins on an exchange.

    Can Trezor be hacked remotely?+

No remote exploit of a Trezor has been publicly confirmed. Documented attacks have all required physical possession of the unlocked device plus advanced lab equipment. Use a strong PIN and an optional passphrase and remote risk is essentially zero.

    Where should I buy a Trezor?+

Always buy direct from trezor.io or an authorised reseller — never second-hand or from random Amazon listings. A tampered device is the single biggest real-world risk to hardware-wallet users.
